2018 PEN World Voices Festival: New York Stories

The city of New York has given rise to the creation of an endless number of memorable fictional characters, recent additions being Nero Golden, Gary Gwynplaine, Archie Ferguson (all four of them), Nina Gill, Nuno DeAngeles and others (some of whom might even hail from Jersey), who inhabit the expansive, and exuberant recent novels of Salman Rushdie, Paul Auster, and Sergio De La Pava. Their creators talk to novelist Colum McCann about the joys and perils of writing stories about the wondrous city of New York.
